Everybody Needs Good Neighbours

We relived our youth today by visiting the set of Neighbours obviously a must for any British toursit visitng Melbourne. It was a fun afternoon reminiscing about getting home from school 5.35pm every weekday watching neighbours which is currently on its 6200th show.

Firstly we saw the Erinsborough high school which they no longer use as they have built one in the studio. Next stop was the studio where we saw a lot of the sets including grease monkeys the cafe, the bric n brac store, the garage where Steph worked, Dial a Kyle (just for you Mandy) and Lassiters.

We then went to Ramsay Steet itself which is a cul de sac 2 mins from the studio which felt strangely familiar. Of the 6 houses on the steet, 2 have the originial owners still in them, 2 have a sold a few times for a ridiculous amount of money and 2 are rented of which Neighbours rents the old Robinsons house. I did feel a bit sorry for the residents at first as there is a constant stream of tourists on the street taking pics of their houses until I found out they get paid approx $30,000 a year in royalties.

This has got to be one of the safest streets in Australia now as they have 24hr security and the street is cordoned off at night. This is because they used to have pesky kids come and do doughnuts and hand brake turns and streak around the street. This just leads me to wonder what was Scott doing in Melbourne for 12 weeks??

Finally we headed back to the studio to meet a cast member, I was fingers crossed for Dr Karl or Harold but no luck. It was Sonya (Toadies gf) which doesnt mean a lot to some of you but I know Mandy will appreciate that and Noah the guitar kid.
