Melbourne

We had a jam packed day in Melbourne which started off at Victoria market and an excuse to do some shopping. I got back into the knack of haggling with one woman on her stall and managed to get my purchase half price.

After a couple of hours at the market we wandered through the streets of Melbourne to the old jail, which housed the infamous Ned Kelly (the Australian version of Robin Hood). Much to my amusement Kris tried on his body armour before we looked through his cell and the hanging site.

Back out on the street we then headed through Chinatown did some more shopping as we made our way to Federation Square where we relaxed in the sunshine. We walked along the Yarra river before meeting up with Cathy for dinner. Cathy took us to a couple of quaint bars which we never would have found as tourists before taking us to a great Thai restaurant.

Cathy had remembered my desire for coconut rice which I could not find in Thailand and so we all delved into a variety of Thai dishes and a big serving of coconut rice. A perfect way to end a great few days back in Oz.
