Billy Elliot Show

Laura's sister Kelly brought all the girls tickets to see Billy Elliot at the Kennedy Centre in DC between Christmas and New Year which was a great night out for me, Laura, Kelly, Carolyn, Paula and Beth.

We got to the Kennedy centre with some time to spare so took the opportunity to see the Hall of States and the Hall of Nations where the flags of each state and the flags of the nations that the US have a good relationship with are hung.

Now Billy Elliot was recommended for 12 years and older with a warning of strong language. Well if they had bleeped out all the curse words in the first half it would have been a ballet not a musical we were seeing. The 12 year old boy who played Billy was a phenomenal dancer and did solo performances of ballet and tap. It was fun to see the american cast attempt northern english accents, I didn't realise there was a strong Jamaican community up north.

It was a great night finished off with a girly sleepover in the basement when we got back to Ashburn.
