Santa Fe, New Mexico

Next stop on the road was Santa Fe where a number of people had mentioned how beautiful this city was and it did not disappoint. It did feel like we had entered a completely different country and could easily have been back in Europe somewhere in Spain.

We spent a few hours just wandering round the city looking at the architecture, our first stop was the main Plaza where we had lunch and shared the best burrito ever! Then we walked to the Loretto Chapel which is famous for its miraculous spiral staircase which defied logical engineering by only being attached at the top and bottom and having 2 complete 360 degree twists.

Next stop was the oldest house in the USA which sat conveniently next door to the oldest church in USA the San Miguel Mission. We then walked to the New Mexico state capitol before wandering back through some traditional shops selling jewellery and animal skulls.
