Ping Pong Shows and the Big Buddha

So after a very relaxing 9 nights in Kata (the quiet part of Phuket) we thought it was time to liven things up so we booked into a hotel in Patong (the Benidorm part of Phuket) for 3 nights. Our hotel was right on the beachfront and in easy stumbling distance of many bars and it felt safe stumbling back as even the road signs were set up for us.

The first night saw us spend an interesting couple of hours sitting at some outdoor bars with scantily clad girls dancing on the bars as entertainment. Then in true tourist style we felt it was wrong to come to Thailand and not see an infamous Ping Pong show. I am not going to divulge details on here all I will say is it was a memorable evening!!

After a couple more days on the beach and nights in the bars we negotiated with a tuk tuk driver yesterday to take us up to the Big Buddha which sits on the top of a giant hill and looks out over the whole of Phuket Island. As we climbed the steps to the view point we passed lots of wild monkeys in the trees who were not shy of people coming right up to the steps. Then on the way down I found some furry friends who were adorable (photo just for you Mum), these 2 helped me persuade Kris that cats are a good idea for when we get back next year!!

Today saw us board a very short flight over to Malaysia where we have arrived in Kuala Lumpur. We are now 7 hours ahead of the UK!

Em - forget the seaweed Pringles bring home the furry friends (one for you and one for me), surely you can fit one each into those rucksacks of yours?

Hey Em,
Brewerx on Clarke Quay in Singapore was the pub I was trying to think of. It was my homesick place when I lived there - good pint and burger! Don't forget Changi prison too.
Enjoy Singapore and it's crazy mix of old school Asia, western conveniences and tacky tourist sensations (Sentosa).
