Ha Long Bay Boat Trip

Well we have just arrived back from 2 amazing days out on Ha Long Bay in a junk boat, there were only a dozen of us staying on the boat which made it very cozy and peaceful. I have attached a photo of our cabin we had which was beautiful and looked out onto the water. We had a set Vietnamese lunch with a whole variety of seafood before heading out to explore some caves. Whereas Kris has an issue with heights I think I have found a slight phobia of being underground feeling a little wobbly and sick all the way round the caves.

After walking the caves Kris went canoeing and this time for the sake of our marriage I decided to stay on the big boat and just took photos of him. Finally we all got a chance to swim in the bay which was really refreshing after climbing in the hot and stuffy caves.

After another big seafood dinner the boat dropped anchor for the night we settled on the top deck of the boat to chill and watch the stars.

We were woken in the night from a massive thunderstorm right over our boat which I have to admit scared the crap out of me and found myself checking that we didn't have a Titanic situation on our hands but we were fine although it made an interesting talking point over breakfast this morning as it had woken everyone up.

Today we just relaxed on the boat for the 3 hours it took to cruise back to shore, before heading on the 4 hour journey back to Hanoi. Thoroughly recommended as a must for anyone thinking of visiting Vietnam!
