Final day in New York

We had an action packed last full day in New York with Neil leading the way, we started off heading towards Greenwich village stopping off at the Fire station featured in the Ghostbusters film before heading onto brunch. After filling up our stomachs we then walked onto the High Line, an old railway line that has been pedestrianized and become a popular walking trail above the city traffic.

When we set off from the apartment we noticed a lot of people walking around the streets of New York dressed as Santa, we found out that today was the annual SantaCon Event held around the world where thousands of people dress up and tour major cities. According to the link below, approx fifty thousand Santas descended on New York. As we got to the next stop the New York Public Library, we realised so had hundreds of Santas so it was a good opportunity for some festive photos.

The last stop was Rockefeller center which was a human gridlock so after a quick picture of the Christmas tree we headed back to the apartment. We also helped Neil move his belongings over to his new apartment which he got the keys for this weekend; it has a great view of the Manhattan skyline.

Our last night was spent taking a trip to Little Italy for some pasta before a very cold walk back. It has been a great few days in New York topped off with a rare opportunity to meet up with family. Now we are back in our second home in Ashburn for the Christmas period. Only 13 days to go!
