Sleeping in Seattle

Today we were up early to have last minute squeezes with Sam and say goodbye to Scott and Nancy before we loaded our backpacks onto our shoulders and headed for our bus to Seattle and our next leg of the trip.

The boarder crossing over to USA briefly reminded us of pulling up to the Vietnamese land border until we got off the bus and actually understood what we were doing and there was some organisation to the process. After half an hour we were back on the bus and heading to downtown Seattle where we got a great view of the city and the Space Needle as we got closer to our stop.

After dropping our stuff off at our motel we headed straight out to make the most of our 24 hours in Seattle. First stop was Pike Place market famous for its fresh fish and souvenirs, we wandered through the market finding a used bookstore and in honour of Scott who can never resist one we found a few bargain books to keep us busy.

Next stop was refreshments at the very first Starbucks which was founded in 1971 and still has the original Starbucks logo on the door. Then we headed to the most famous sight in Seattle the Space Needle which Kris swiftly declined to go up the 180 metres tower but as you can see from the photos that didn't stop me.

Tonight will see us heading for a stroll along the harbour to find dinner before starting our driving tour tomorrow.
