Lighting the Night in Victoria

On Thursday we packed the car up for a long weekend in Victoria with Nancy's family, we took the couple of hour ferry ride over to the island which reminded Kris and I of 2008 when we did the same trip for Scott and Nancy's wedding. Although unlike the last time Scott was much calmer and not pacing the ferry deck thinking about his impending nuptials.

On arriving at the island Scott took us to Sidney where we visited the British shop as you can see from the photos we stocked up on basic essentials such as Curly Wurlys, Parma violets, Irn Bru and of course custard creams! We have then spent the last couple of days relaxing, reading books, eating lots of Nanaimo bars and having a dip in Wendy's hot tub in the garden.

Last night all of the friends and family of Wendy, Nancy and Scott Marks got together for the annual Light the Night Leukemia walk in memory of Bob who passed away last year. It was an amazing event where hundreds of patients, survivors and supporters were out carrying the lit balloons around the University of Victoria. It was heartwarming to see the support network around the family as everyone turned out to offer their support and share memories.

We finished off the night eating and drinking lots and having a good catch up about our travels with familiar faces from whom we met a few years ago at the wedding.

Great weekend in Victoria and the Nanaimo bars tasted fantastic. Next stop gun shooting in Vancouver!
