Cows, Goats, Chickens, Pigs, Baldrick the Lamb and Kari!

After dropping off our campervan in Christchurch excitment was building of the arrival of Miss Williams. For those of you who don't know my trusted friend Kari has also been travelling the other way round the world at the same time and New Zealand is our crossing point. The thing about Kari is she is kind of a last minute girl as was confirmed when she breezed through arrivals with no plan of where we were going or doing. But Kari has a fantastic knack of pulling things off and somehow we ended up on a family farm on the outskirts of Christchurch.

We have been staying in a loft conversion above this families house where we have befriended one of their lambs Baldrick who has been hand reared by them as he was rejected by his mother when he was born. We have mingled with the sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, rabbits and Misty the dog.

Yesterday was the start of the Rugby World Cup and after getting to know the family downstairs we joined them with a few beers in hand to support the All Blacks win their first game.

As we are the furthest point from home Kari and I decided to leave a memento of a message in a bottle out at sea. This proved tougher than expected as we raced into the icy water yesterday and threw our bottles in only to find they made it back to shore quicker than we did. After a couple of attempts we decided that it will be more effective to throw them from a boat which leaves Kari to attempt the final drop when she sets sail for the north island in a few days.

It has been an amazing few days although too short which leaves me thinking where in the world will I see Kari next??

Cows, Goats, Chickens, Pigs, Baldrick the Lamb... and me!? hahaha. Thanks Em. Had an awesome time with you guys. Couldn't have wished (or planned!) a more perfect few days. Predictions on where we meet next... Heathrow Airport, April 2012 (when I miss my expected return to work at RR on April 2nd!) xxx
