North to South

We spent a day in Wellington visiting the New Zealand National Museum, riding the cable car above the city and walking back down through the Botanical Gardens. We treated ourselves to lunch as I felt it was only right to sample NZ lamb as there are so many of them out here.

Yesteday we left early to board the Interislander ferry to the South island, the 3 hour journey had amazing views of the NZ landscape. We arrived in Picton on the South at lunchtime and booked onto a wine tour for the next day.

Now I am writing this having just returned from the tour so excuse any spelling mistakes as I couldn't get the spitting technique quite right. There were only 4 people on the tour in total and we couldn't quite believe our luck when an older couple joined us in the minibus and introduced themselves as Peter and Carolyn.

Unfortunately the tour didnt change my stereotypical perception of wine connoiseurs as I was told off about my holding, swirling and spitting techniques. So with my new parents present I felt it only right to act like a child and disobey all the rules and neck the different wine options.

The afternoon was very interesting and we did learn a few things about making wine, we did manage to find one wine we both liked and purchased a bottle. Getting into the spirit of the rugby world cup the winery had an offer which was, if you could kick a rugby ball over the post in one go you could get another bottle free. Kris stepped up, disappointment followed.

In conclusion (see photo) I have demonstrated at the end of the day a lambrini girl doesnt change her spots.

It must have been all that wine you swallowed and not spat out as it really was us in NZ, didn't you know?

After seeing VW's second email I feel like I need another wine tour.
