4 out of 5 ain't bad

The first morning in Bangkok started with a skype call to Kari my trusted friend to give us the top tips of Bangkok seeing as she lived here for 18 months. Well as you can guess from the title we achieved 4 out of the 5 top tips (didn't get to a floating market) and still had time to fit in a few drinks with some of her friends.

1. Grand Palace - after a skytrain ride down to the river we got on a boat which took us to the older part of the city where we walked the grand palace. 37 degrees and having to cover up = very hot and very sweaty Kings. To sum it up in my words 'its very bling'
2. Wat Pho - the reclining Buddha and a personal favourite of mine. As you can see from the photo inside the temple was a huge gold Buddha lying down - more bling!!
3. Sticky Rice and Mango Dessert - Kris had already tried this in Vietnam but we had to try it again and we have to admit it is done better in Thailand.
4. Sky Bar at Sunset - we made our way to Long Table Bar for 6.30 to watch the sunset, amazing views as we watched the city nightlife come alive all whilst drinking a Cosmopolitan Martini (very SATC).

After the sunset it was onto dinner at Cabbage and Condoms another great recommendation from Kari - set up to promote safe sexual health and the restaurant decor was made out of condoms and instead of after dinner mints being served, all customers left with a condom. Who needs the NHS, check out Santa made out of condoms!

Finally it was onto the bar to meet Kari's friends who felt like our friends after hearing so much about them. It was a great night with many drinks all round, the only downside was trying to get up after 3 hours sleep still tipsy this morning. But we did and have just landed in Phuket the land of THE Beach!

This is AWESOME... freaky and weird and wonderful... I'm so glad you guys got to spend some time together. The 3 people I miss the most, all in one place... about as far from me as physically possible! Breaks my heart and makes me smile all at the same time. I love you. xxx

Love you too missy, I thought you might be getting used to not being around me, so good to know I am still missed! It was great being in Bangkok and feels a bit eerie being in quiet Phuket now. We had a great time it would have been perfect if you were showing us around your home town though ;-)
